dotQuest World map.

dotQuest World map.

This game reminds me a lot of Gailardia series. The main difference is the leveling system. You will also level your skills by using them. The other difference is – there is no sea travel – just on foot.

You start the game with a boy named Shota who apparently lost his memory. Two girls – Spika and Luna will come to greet you and tell you they summoned you to fight Satan.

Your first quest is to reach Elm castle.

  • Speak with everyone and loot all chests and shelves.
  • Speak with both majesties (especially the queen) and gather all quests.
  • Return the comic book (it is on the second floor) for an Energy drink.
  • Go to the Cralisy town to the west to complete two more quests. One given by soldiers and one by the king.

Do not be hasty about rushing west. Small slimes will prove quite deadly. Train on them until you become at least level 3, so your survivability is better.

If you happen to die – return to castle and spend 10 gold to sleep into the inn. You will heal and revive all chars.

If you use skills and magic in combat, next auto attack will try to use your last skill or magic used (provided you have sufficient spell points). Take your time and grind a bit outside the castle. It will pay up later.

If you want to train specific skill – you must be sure you do the finishing blow with this exact skill or kill the monster with one blow. Most Skill XP points are given to the killer.

Try maxing out all equipment sold in the shop and leveling to level 5. It also pays up to train your skills while in the wilderness between two towns. Cralisy is directly west, after a small forest.

Cralisy town.

  • Lunch box in one of the pots to the east.
  • One of the girls tells you the first boss is weak against ice.
  • One of the houses has a pot with 100 gold and a granny who lost her ring.
  • The copper swords for the quest in the Elm castle are in the armory, where you will also find a pot with 100 gold.
  • Professor Whim’s house also has 50 gold and some goodies.

Professor’s assistant tells you he is in the lab and you decide to wait for him to return. You don’t actually wait as you supposedly guessed already.

Explore the wilderness and return to Elm with the copper swords. Reward is a iron shield. Shota or Luna should benefit from it.

Memorial stuff quest

Memorial stuff quest

Do the “memorial stuff” quest. 31 steps east from town. Hard to miss the spot. It is in a single baren square inside small forest patch. Once you return the ‘stuff’ the quest NPC gives you a small ring needed for the granny in the big house. For some reason she does not reward you for the ring so you may as well keep it.

Try gathering enough money to arm Shota and Luna with katana type swords. They do a lot of damage and can be combined with shields.

Try arming the best armors money can buy while training to levels 7-8. If you are tired of slimes and ants, go south from Cralisy village. Monsters are stronger and give more XP and gold. Eventually you may reach the submerged cave to Rin’s house. Loot the two chests and go to the island to mark the house by entering it. There is a tower nearby and it will be easier to teleport later when you have quests inside.

When at least level 7 – get back to Elm castle and go northeast from there to the nearby cave. Waiting for the professor to get out is pointless.

Go to the cave. When you try to enter you will decide to get back to town to wait there. Don’t wait – speak with his assistant again. He will apologize and send you to the cave, because he is worried. (game designers are probably smiling now)

ElmCaveGet back to the cave (use teleport to Elm) and enter.

First floor of the cave is not hard. Some chests laying around with goods (sword, shirt and 200 gold). Only monster you need to be watchful for is the Poison jelly. Use “Recover” if you get poisoned.

Second floor has your first ring in a chest, give it to Spica. When you get near an area with some green bushes (in a cave LOL 🙂 ), Shota will tell you to save the game (how does he now he is a game character 🙂 ?)

Save and go in. If you spoke with everyone as I told you to – you will know Lizardfolk is weak against Ice attacks. He has 650 hitpoints and upon death gives 80 XP and 280 gold.

After some long and poorly translated blah-blah, you will be sent to Rin’s island. If you haven’t found it yet – her island hut is south of Cralisy through a submerged cave. Don’t forget to loot Whim’s room 😉

Rin is martial artist who will join your party after explaining you need to go to the lab to recover Shota’s memory, the lab is in the tower’s top floor and you need to use a switch on 2-nd floor which is embedded in a statue.

Tower is just a bit northeast from the hut, but my advice is to teleport to Cralisy to buy better equipment for Rin first and then teleport back to the hut. It’s free after all. She is only level 6, so you better get her well defended.

When you feel ready, enter

Lab tower.

Floor 1 has some chests with herbs and 2*400 gold. 3 staircases to floor 2 one of them opens the way to the other, where another chest lays waiting for loot.

Floor 2 has few chests with 200 gold, bronze claws, consumables, the switch statue and stairs to floor 3. Not all areas in floor 2 are accessible directly. 2 of the chest rooms are accessible through NW stairs on floor 1. An area in the center is accessible from floor 3, so we proceed up.

Floor 3 is full of stairs and few chests. 300 gold, consumables.
You will meet mini satan monster on this floor. It has mass damage skill, so be careful no to get wiped in 3-4 unlucky attacks.

Be sure to take the 2 stairs down to floor 2 so you open the other chests and use the switch statue. Otherwise, the door above will stay closed. Also one of the stairs will lead you on floor 1 where a chest with dagger is hidden.

Floor 4 has few chests with herbs, jogging shoes and design t-shirt 🙂

All of them are accessible from the various staircases on floor 3. Central area is the lab itself. You will he warned it’s good time to save the game. When you enter the room, a Minotaur will attack you. He has 2200 hitpoints and bad debuff that lowers defence. Be sure you are at full mana and health and just empty all your high damage skills on him.

When you kill him, Rin will start unlocking ceremony on your brain 🙂

Following is a lousy translated text with lots of errors from which you understand Shota is from the future where magic is dead and prince Laym defeated Satan but paid the price and there is no mana in the fiture.

So you decide to go speak with him.

Loot (there is barely any) and get back to the Elm castle.

Head south to the bridge. There is a small inn there, potion shop and some guards. one of them gives you mail to deliver to his brother in Kokurum kingdom. (don’t forget to loot, there is a good ring in one of the pots). Exit from south and return immediately. The guard will stand on the north exit with another falcon ring inside the pot.

ElmToSold

Sold town

… is a small town between Elm and Kokurum castle.

  • Duram will get his mail from you and give you long samurai sword for reward.
  • Loot all cabinets, barrels, chests and pots. There are more than 3000 gold worth of items and coins.
  • Talk with everyone and buy the best possible arms and armors. You need to kill those cats and skulls in one attack 😉

Local lore:

  • Centaur (next boss) is weak against ice but has high defense.
  • Kokurum is to the SE.
  • One of the girls in the houses needs cure ribbon. I never found such an item until the very end of the game, so it’s probably just a forgotten sub quest.

When ready, go outside. Have in mind that monsters to the west are a lot stronger than anything you faced so far (and also give lots of gold and experience) so either train to level 20 on them (you will thank me later) or turn southeast to Kokurum castle.

  1. Return to Sold town and ask the soldier in the armor shop about it.
  2. He will try to sell you the key for 100 000 gold. Even if you have this much that early in the game – best solution is to beat him up.
  3. He is tough – 2500 hitpoints but hits with physical attacks only and does not like cold. When done, you get the key, 600 XP, 1000 gold and a lousy excuse 😉
  4. Return to Kokurum on foot. No teleport – sorry.
  5. Save in front of the city and enter.

If you decide to loot the castle, only first floor is open for now and you will meet some bone fighters with mad flowers. They have bad debuff named “Stinky smell” that lowers defence for the whole party.

There are 500 gold and some remedies laying around.

Save!

When you ascend to the throne room, you will be attacked by the Centaur. He has 4500 hitpoints life and is very weak against ice attacks.

His debuff is called “Power down” and lowers offence for the whole party with 14 points. Stick with magic attacks when debuffed or you will do none or really low damage. Use poison on him to accelerate his demise a bit. He seems to not tolerate water based attacks at all.

He also casts a mass damage spell “Fire breath” but it is bearable and “Rush” which does quite bad damage to a single target and can entangle.

Battle is not hard for a level 20 party so I hope you listened to my advice to train a bit with harder monsters.

King of Kokurum explains where is the prince and sends you on another errand to close the hole opened west of the castle. But first:

Speak with everyone, so you know that:

  • Next boss, the Golem has a lot of HP but is weak against fire. (generally to any magic BTW)
  • A soldier on the second floor needs more interesting books. (another sub quest that does not trigger anything)
  • Loot everything if you missed it and visit the armor shop. Whole lot of new stuff but a little steeper. You will need more than 28000 gold to buy the best stuff provided you are already fully equiped.

  • Golem is in NE cave. He has 7000 HP life and casts only the skill “Gain”. Be sure to be at full health when he has cast this spell because he hits for 100+ damage in the next turn. 1500 gold and experience for the kill.

Return to Kokurum king to get your reward. It is a short kokurum sword – good weapon if you focus on daggers and short swords. Then he sends you to the west cave to proceed to the Land kingdom.

Teleport to Sold town and proceed west from there. Another village is near the west cave, be sure to enter 😉

Just go west around the mountain.

Just go west around the mountain.

Edge town.

Nothing interesting. No quests. Loot everything and go to the shop. Lots of new arms and armor, so suit up. Farm some money outside if you can’t afford to buy all good stuff and proceed west through the cave.

Edge cave.

There are few staircases down with good stuff in chests.

Flame ant casts Flame wheel with moderate 40+ damage and debuffs.
Froggers cast Poison cloud, so don’t leave them alive for too long.

Descending to level 2 from NE stairs will lead you to Farce. He is a human subordiante of Satan. Small talk and your first fight with the coward Farce.

First version of Farce has 4500 HP and can fossilize and buff.

From Edge to Mover town.

Exit the cave and head NW to the bridge station. The inn is 70 gold only and you learn that the next city is North and then East.

But first – exit bridge station and return immediately. There will be more loot in the pots. If you look at the map – there are really 2 bridge stations around the bridge. Don’t know why the developers decided it this way. They could have made the 2 stations a bit different inside, so you know they are actually 2 different places.

Proceed NE to Mover town. Only Popots are stronger, because they have high defence and can heal themselves.

Mover town

(who invents those names?!)

Loot and speak.

Local lore:

  • Prince Laym is probably in NW cave.
  • Land castle is NW in north part of the cave (not true, it’s not connected to Laym’s cave)
  • Prince Laym is in a cave guarded by Iron Giant. He can debuff and is weak to lightning.
  • Star hair ornament, frill skirt and 2000 gold are in chests laying around. Be sure to loot them all.

If you are short (full equipment from the shop is 60k +) – go outside and farm some money. Monsters are a bit tricky here, but they give good Xp and gold.

Popot can cure and has very high physical resistance. Big eye has magic resistance and can cast “gaining” but is weaker to physical attacks. (see the full list of monsters below)

Cave of Laym floor 1.

There is a silver wand in a chest at NW corner.

  • Seahorse casts Flame shot.
  • Baby dragon has ice breath.
  • Devil apples cast “Devil’s whisper”, a debuff that lowers all attack and defence stats.

Loot all caves. Go to NW cave on floor 1. Clean and proceed to level 3. You will be warned to save because boss is near.

Prince Laym is fighting the Iron giant, so you decide to help him out. Iron giant will debuff you a lot, but he cannot kill you with the speed Spika can mass heal your party, so you will prevail.

Prince Laym gives you the book of sealing after the fight (you can’t find the book in your inventory though)

Proceed north to …

Land castle.

Loot everything. Speak with everyone.

Local lore:

  • There is a wyvern in the east tower. It is weak to fire and casts stunning lightnings.

You need to go there to get a jewel so the king casts his spatial magic to transport you to Satan’s island. So buy the best arms and armor from shop and go hunt in the tower.

Third and fourth floor are ladders, chests and monsters. Most of them don’t like fire attacks.

The jewel is on the last floor, accesible from the SE stairs of floor 4. You will be warned to save the game. Pick the jewel from the chest and you will be attacked by

Wyvern.

Fight is long, use your best offensive skils and spells and mass heal a lot. Wyvern will stun with lightning very often, so be patient and keep hitting.

4000 xp and 6000 gold.

Return to the king and he will order his wizard to send you to satan’s island. Monsters are a bit stronger here 🙂 but they dont have much magic defence.

SatanIsland

Head to the caves below the castle. Stink pots are almost completely immune to physical attacks, so cast a lot of spells.

Caves are a labyrinth of corridors and sub caves. You need to find your way around.

This may be a good time for you to train all your non-wizards to life magic level 4 or higher. Find a group of stink pots and put your group to auto attack after setting the following first:

  • Shota – recover;
  • Spika – poison cloud;
  • Luna – cure;
  • Rin – cure.

Make sure you don’t fight a party with snakes because they stun and your auto fight will be broken (human interaction needed). Or simply kill them first before the auto fight starts.

Stink pots will start curing each other when Spika casts poison cloud. Rin and Luna will cure you when an occasional hit falls on you. Shota will recover you if you get poisoned.

Leave your android unit on charger. Set it to not activate screen saver or screen lock when inactive and do something else for 10 minutes. Repeat this few times or optionally – set Spika to use rod skill “angel heal” and leave you phone/tablet for 30 minutes on auto fight. When done – all your non-wizards will be able to mass heal, mass recover and revive. Shota is with worst healing skills, but don’t worry – he will survive 🙂

Loot all sub caves. They have some gold, herbs and few cool items. If you have best equipment alredy – don’t bother. No more towna and no better shops. When ready, proceed to the most NE cave. You will have to walk another corridor and some mine (or somethig looking straighter than a cave) and then through a stairs up you will meet stronger version of …

This time, the coward is accompanied by Kraken and is a bit stronger himself. Kraken hits very bad with Gaining and straight punch and Farce casts heal, power break, fossilization beam and poison shock. If he fossilizes Spica, I suggest you fix her quickly. You will need a lot of healing and brute magic power for this fight.

Focus on 1 boss and hit hard with all you’ve got. Preferably kill Kraken first.

Spread all your reviving herbs and potions around the whole party and heal a lot. Never leave a party member fossilized for more than a turn and try to heal the whole party to 100% when Kraken uses Gaining because the next turn could be fatal. He hits for 200-300 hp if you are not buffed with protection spells. Get them poisoned all the time so Farce cures the poison instead of using his other skills.

IMHO: A party level 35 is the minimum for this boss pair. Go train a bit around this dungeon if you are not ready. There is plenty of experience in each monster group.

5500 xp and 4500 gold when done. Farce will complain a bit … and warn you about the human spirit.

Now. Next part is …

Satan castle.

Inhabitants are currently at war with you, so get on foot and start cleaning. 🙂

Floor one.

  • Kobolds cast gaining, so get them killed fast.
  • White bears cast quake but the damage is bearable.
  • Dragon flies cast thunderbreath which can be bad if it stuns your whole party.

There is an array of chests to loot. Mainly herbs. One mana pendant.

  1. when you say yes to $100000 the Kokurum Soldier he will say “just kidding, just get me 10 bamboo stocks” (which you you can get in elm castle from the guy who has white hair … he will give them them to you free) and the soldier will give you the key

  2. What is the maximum element level?
