(You need to complete parts 1 and 2 of this guide first. The guide below is for when you alredy have the bomb and has blown the boulder.)

This is the last part III of the walkthrough, you may find the previous parts here:

Kata town.

Not much to do here. The cave east is actually what you need:

  • Some rumors about the cell key being in nearby cave.
  • The grave of Hajil (Hagil?) and a tip about his descendant who also repairs bridges.
  • 2 more cool things in the shop. Dragon mail and dragon sword. 7200 and 7500 gold.
Kata town in Gailardia 3

Kata town in Gailardia 3

Kata cave.

Nothing really hard. Some chest with spider silk on first floor.

Elixir and cell key on second floor. The white gem is a bit east from the cell key.

There is a chest locked behind cell door, so you may want to get back a bit to collect it. Fire ring is inside.

Now let’s loot all the places where cell doors were standing in the way:

  1. Calandora, SW corner – a herb and the purple gem.
  2. Calandora, east – useless talks with prisoners.
  3. Sage shrine near Raiton – 2000 gold, miracle leaf and THE hero helm.
  4. Mizury tower, SE from Mizury. Floor 3 has a hole to floor 2 behind the cell door. According to the incription – You need to cast Escape to get away after this. But the party refuses to go inside the hole. (You need the grapling hook (later, see below))
  5. Colma. When you have cell key, the Colma city’s Traveler merchant will have a Ruby shield for you. 9000 gold. Universal – anyone can wear It.

Now let’s go Northeast.

Northeastern continent.

NorthEast continent in Gailardia 3

Howard castle

To enter this area – You need:

  1. The cell key
  2. To find the entrance (see map, right here —>).
  3. To be able to fight higher tier monsters.

Howard castle.

It is in the north-northwest part of the continent.

  • Shop sells Muramasa. Samurai/ninja weapon. 9800 gold.
  • You learn there is a creepy cave southeast of the castle and there is a device pointing the directions somewhere (The compass needed for Mizuri desert)
  • You will find a hole behind a cell door in the castle. Another hole like the one in the Mizuri tower. Remember this place for later, when you get the hook.

The king is lame, so…

Go outside and explore.

  • West of the castle is a chest with an elixir.
  • East of the castle is a sage who explains there is only one correct way in the nearby cave.

The cave.

Floor 1

  • If you follow right hand rule, you will reach a chest with the Ice ring.
  • If you follow left hand rule, you will reach floor 2

Floor 2

Puzzle. Need to remember the rooms. Each of them is unique and if you make an error, you get back to room 2.

  1. Entrance room 1. This is a small room with just one exit to the North.
  2. Room 1 leads to larger room (2) with 4 exits to each direction. South exit leads back, east exit leads to west exit. North exit leads to south exit. The only good choice is West exit.
  3. Room 2 leads to C-shaped room (3) with 2 possible exits. South is bad – room 2. The other east exit leads to room 4.
  4. Room 3 leads to 5-exits room (4). South – Room 2. East – Room 2. West – Room 2. Northwest – room 2. Northeast – Room 5.
  5. Room 4 leads here. This room has one exit and a staircase down. Just descend.

Or in short. Enter floor 2, go North, West, Northeast (2 east exits), Northeast and then descend.

The area below is a big hall with a chest at north area, guarded by a boss monster:

Blue Rex in Gailardia 3

Blue Rex in Gailardia 3

Blue rex has 1500 life and when defeated gives 9000 xp, 1500 gold and the blue horn.

Same tactics as all Rex monsters: Curtain, bless barrier (Blue rex has cold breath) and high tension on fighters, so they score more damage. Blue rex does not like fire and Giga fire will do 90+ damage.

The chest behind him contains the Compass.

Time to go traverse this elusive small east desert. Strangely – you are not lost in the big desert around Mizuri, but a small desert is an obstacle. πŸ˜€

Teleport to Mizuri and go east. Elisa town is just a bit east after the sign, so go make your stand there. It is a big town. Much bigger than what it was in Gailardia 1.

Elisa town and Elisa tower

Elisa town and Elisa tower

Elisa town.

  • You learn about hooks and holes and about a crystal capable of dozing any fire.
  • There is a Rex tower to the south.
  • There is anb old lady collecting all 7 pearls.
  • The cellar accessible at northeast has mabe pearl and work permit.
  • Shops have lots of new armor and weapons, so go buy and equip. You will probably need around 85000-90000 gold to buy everything.

If you are short on money, go around Elisa town and grind a bit.

There is a sage in a shrine, southeast of Elisa. He will explain you need to extinguish the horns in order blue, green, red. (It is about the horns again – have patience and read below)

Elisa tower.

Level 1.

  • Nothing hard. Occasonal fire breathing green dragon or cobra.
  • Travelers wing hidden in a pot (Northwest corner of level 1)
Use the northwest hole to fall to level 2

Use the northwest hole to fall to level 2, the other 2 holes drop to level 1.

Level 2 has 3 areas.

  1. Hole room which you can access from level 3 by falling. This room also has a staircase to climb to level 3.
  2. Empty room where you can come from level 1.
  3. Main area with stairs up and down.

Level 3

  • 3 holes and stairs to level 4. Through the stairs, you will reach level 4’s chest room.
  • Through the NW hole, you will fall on level 2. The 2 other holes fall on level 1.

Level 4

  • Area with 2 chests – Ruby helm and freshwater pearl.
  • Another area with corridors and stairs to level 5.

Level 5.

Just go North and fight the Rex.

Metal Rex in Gailardia 3

Metal Rex in Gailardia 3

Metal rex has 2000 life.

  • Casts giga thunder, so use Magic barrier all the time.
  • Curtain – all the time.
  • High tension on fighters.

When you manage to slay him – 12500 xp, 2000 gold and the Arctic crystal.

Once you get the Arctic crystal and all 3 horns, you are ready for Romario area.

Teleport to Colma city, man the ship and sail west. When you hit the rock of the east continent, turn south for 10 squares and enter the area.

To enter, you need:

  1. Cell key.
  2. Arctic crystal.
  3. All three horns.

The cursed cave.

Town Of Despair Area in Gailardia 3.

Town Of Despair Area in Gailardia 3.

3 areas:

  1. At East you have a room with 3 inscriptions.
  2. At North is a path blocked by black squares.
  3. At West is a fork-like area where you must “light” the horns.

A horn is lit by going to Item menu and using it in the corresponding branch of the fork-like area.

The 3 branches, explained by the middle text inscription from left to right are:

Red,
green,
blue,

And the order to light them is Green, red, blue. (Center – green, left – red, right – blue).

Now you need to extinguish them in order Blue, green, red. This is done by using the Arctic crystal on the fires:

  1. Right – blue,
  2. Center – green,
  3. Left – red.

This removes the curse and the way out is open. But you immeditely enter another cave.

Level 1 of the cave is trivial. Long corridor with monsters. Most of them you’ve already met. Only the paralyzing tarantula is new, but you will manage. Your chars are probably around levels 39-40 by now.

Level 2 is like underground archipelago. There are dozens of small islands with chests, passages to level 3, bridges and barrages.
There are 3 chests.

  1. Northeast corner has a chest with the Sea pearl. Follow the right hand rule.
  2. Northwest, chest with elixir. Follow left hand rule.
  3. Another chest near the entrance has Miracle leaf. No rule. Just wonder around and you will find it.

Level 3 is made of halls and tunnels for connecting two areas on level 2.

When yo reemerge on level 2, you find a staircase to another entry of level 1 which leads north. This area has a chest with another Advanced work permit (Your third)

Keep going and you will exit this far-too-long dungeon.

After you exit it, a sign says to go west.

Town of despair.

  • Shops sell the diamond set of armors and weapons. You will need more than 120k gold to equip everyone.
  • Chests behind cell door in Northeast corner of city hold the Dagger of light and Safeguard ring.
  • A guard gives hints about the locations of the hero set.
  • Another tells you not to venture into the dark hole without a hook.

A sage outside town tells you all the graves are empty. (and they really are)

Grapling hook.

Go into the east cave.

Everything hits hard, casts spells or breathes. Arm with patience and start killing. You probably still need money and experience is good up until you get to party level 99.

Level 1 has a chest at NE corner with the Tokugawa armor. (Samurai and ninja equipable only)

Level 2 has a wide corridor, ending with a boss monster.

Shadow Rex in Gailardia 3

Shadow Rex

Shadow rex has 2800 life point. Can heal and breathe. Gives 18000 xp, 2800 gold and the Utility hook.

Now let’s check all those holes.

  • Just a bit south from the boss monster – hole leads to level 1 start area.
  • Howard castle’s hole. 3 chests – Hero sword, poppy pearl and 2500 gold.
  • Mizury tower’s hole. 1 chest with the Hero shield.

Almost done with the main game.

Only one more kill πŸ˜‰

Go back to Town of despair and enter the hole to the east.

Demon king dungeon.

Level 1 NW corner has a chest with miracle leaf.

Level 2 northwest has 2 chests with Miracle robe and work permit.

Level 3 is a bit tricky. There are black rifts you can’t pass. First one is passable on the westernmost square, the next to the westernmost:

Level 4 east room chest has the Hero armor. West room chest has the Masamune katana (Ninja&Samurai only). North room descends to level 5.

Level 5 is a large hall with the third incarnation of the Lamia Demon king on top.

It is called Luminos

Luminos in Gailardia 3.

Luminos in Gailardia 3.

Luminos fight.

Same rules as all boss monsters.

  • Make sure you have hight tension on fighters all the time.
  • Make sure you have Curtain and both barriers all the time.
  • Use your sage for healing every turn, never leave a char below 100 hitpoints.

A level 50 party will do just fine.

Once the demon is down, you will immediately fight the egg of the next demon king. (without rest).

Demon King's Egg in Gailardia 3

Demon King’s Egg in Gailardia 3

Same rules as above. Not hard at all.

The end.

Now.

Main story ends with those 2 boss monsters. But πŸ™‚ …

Go to the heroes graveyard for more πŸ˜‰

If you have already been there, you will spot some differences.

Monsters are much stronger and the central grave is opened for visits πŸ™‚

Enter.

The area has 2 shops and 3 demons.

  • One guards two chests. (and demands donation)
  • One guards the back of the shop. (harmless)
  • One bonus boss at top right corner awaits you to become stronger.
  • One of the shops sell work permits and charity.
  • The other sells some expensive Aztec armors, which give little more defense.

Buy the charity and offer it to the demon guarding the chests.
Excalibur and the Miracle armor is what you’ll find there.

Grind as much as you want and go attack Quetzalcoatl. He is not very had in Gailardia 3.

3000 xp, 10 gold and the Quetzalcoatl tail.

Without this tail, you can’t make 100% item completion, so the game is supposed to finish here πŸ™‚

The other ellusive things are the 7 gems and 7 pearls.

All gems can be traded in Calandora town for Strong ring (+25 attack)

All pearls collected can be traded in Elisa town for Advanced work permit.

Just have a look above or in the previous 2 articles, and you will find them all:

After you visit Port town, you will understand you need to battle another monster, or they will not help you with the blueprints.

The monster is in the cave Southeast from Port town.

Southern cave.

Southern cave is 2 level cave with 2 things important:

  • Level 1 has a chest with a work permit accessible from level 2.
  • Level 2 has a miniboss.

There are some Goliath spiders who will paralyze you, so grab some paralweed.

The Red Snake has approximately 500 HP and hits 2 times for 20-25 damage. Fire and Ice spells often miss, so stick with thunders.

Heal a lot while fighting. Never leave a char with less than 30 HP for more than 1 turn.

Should not be a problem beating it with level 15 party.

Go back to Port and get the blueprints.

Go back to Calandora …

and give them to the shipbuilder.

The other guard asks you about a world map and explains it is suicide to not have one if you go to the seas …

You need to wait a bit until the ship is ready anyways, so go for the map.

The map is in Colma town, exactly at the shop for travelers in the center of the city as you already suspect.

The price is 2000 gold.

It shows all places you already visited as blinking dots and your position as large “X”. Using the arrows will cycle the X over the villages you visited and will show you their names below:

Gailardia 3 map of the world

Gailardia 3 map of the world

Now go back to Calandora and get the ship.

Free sailor πŸ˜‰

Explore the sea

Explore the sea

This is where the linear part of the game ends.

You may head anywhere.

You don’t need to stick to the scenario written below, but use it as a guide only.

The nearest place to go is the island in the river mouth near Calandora.

The sea monsters are bearable, just beware the turtles. They hit with 25+ damage.

The sage found inΒ  the shrine on this island suggests you start on the northern bank of the eastern continent (this means Port town and beyond).

So you better head that way.

There is another small shrine with a shop and church you can use as base. It is NE from Port town but you need the ship to reach it.

Shrine of peace.

The shops sell Magic armor for 3000 gold, so you need to collect some money to invest in all chars which can wear it.

There are also scented charms and spider silk sold there.

There is a treasure inside but you need the find gold key first.

The sage in the “Shrine of peace” points to the town of Mystia about the gold key.

Mystia is Northeast of this shrine, but the way is with a long detour and yellow slimes sometimes cast mini blizzard.

You will probably reach level 16 with your party at this point and your monk will learn “Revive!”. (Mages will have it too at level 18). This spell gives a bit more confidence when exploring. Even if someone falls – you may revive and heal.

The ways to Mystia are 2. Both have monster parties which breathe and cast spells. Arm with patience and try as many times as you need.

The shorter way to Mystia is not north (there is only a sign explaining it is a detour – and it is really a long detour).

Go east instead. Some bridges, one sign and there you are:

Path to Mystia in Gailardia 3

Path to Mystia

Mystia town.

Armor shop sells some better stuff:

  • Steel hammer – 3000 gold
  • Orc shield – 3000 gold
  • Magic robe – 3500 gold

Buy them, because fights will not become easier πŸ˜‰

Traveler wings in a barrel above Inn.

Oyster pearl hidden in one tree trunk (see picture):

Oyster Pearl

Oyster Pearl is in this tree trunk

Local sage tells you about monsters being lured out with meat.

Path to Forgotten village in Gailardia 3

Path to Forgotten village

A Guard tells you not to fall in the well and another guard points you east towards the woods.

The third guard sums it all: Monster – woods – gold key.

The female cook in the building behind him tells you about her friend in the Forgotten village having monster luring meat. The Forgotten village is in solitude island in the ocean. If you teleport to Port town and go north-northeast with the boat, you can’t miss it (see picture).

Not hard to reach, there are some Manta ray, crabs and hermit crabs. The only bad monster is again shellfish (paralyze).

Forgotten village.

  • There is scented charm in one of the shelves in the inn.
  • Shops sells the same stuff as Mystia.
  • Sage points you to a nearby tower to hunt Rex-monsters (This can wait)
  • The meat is in the northeast corner of the village. Speak with the boy and you can have it.

Return to Mystia.

Go to the area east of Mystia. There is one area with clearing. Enter it and follow the right-hand rule.

Boss monster is called Yellow snake and is in one clearing 3×3 squares wide. If you don’t have the meat in your bag – monster does not show itself.

The Yellow snake has MiniQuake spell and hits for 20-30 damage 2 times per turn.

Yellow Snake miniboss in Gailardia

Yellow Snake miniboss

Level 18 party will get wiped easily. You risk this fight or train a bit – it’s up to you. Tactics are simple and you already know them from gailardia 1:

You need to cast High tension on warrior and samurai and keep healing with your monk. Cast some offensive spells with the mage but always have high tension on fighters.

When complete, you get the gold key, 6000 xp and 400 gold. Quite worth the battle.

Now let’s go back to all places with gold doors πŸ˜‰

  1. Castle Raiton, king’s bedroom. (work permit, scented charm)
  2. Castle Hamilton, in front of guard keeping aluminum ore (work permit, traveler wings, 1200 gold)
  3. Castle Hamilton, second floor to the west. (High job ranking specialist, but you don’t have advanced work permit yet.)
  4. Shrine of peace. (800 gold and a work permit).

After you complete the gold key quest, yellow gem can be bought for 5000 gold, from the adventurer trader in Colma town. (2/7)

You may want to visit Misuri, the desert town.

Get the boat east from Port town in the river mouth.

Stop on the bridge and head South.

South only.

Have a look at your map. It’s the only oasis in the big desert. Can’t miss it.

Luckily you will encounter only one or two groups of monsters.

Mizuri, the desert town.

It is a great place for establishing a training and grinding camp. You will need around 50000 gold to buy all new equipment sold in the shop. The monsters are dangerous but generous, so you can spend 30 minutes in the area around city. Only the cactus can cast spells and not any single one of them has any breath or spell attacks πŸ˜‰ Perfect for training.

Book shelves in the Inn tell you to find a bomb to blow a boulder. (this is done later). There are also Traveler wings in one of the wardrobes.

People explain, that …

  1. There is a desert tower Southeast from Mizuri with strong monsters.
  2. There is a village with the knowledge to build a bomb. Somewhere. (read below)

You can easily train in the desert until levels 25-26 and collect enough money to upgrade your party in the Mizuri armory.

For quick results – Set the game speed and text speed to MAX and enable combat spell casting. Train until you spend all SP and return to rest. You will be fully equipped and levels 26 in no time.

If you happen to reach the east end of the desert, a sage shrine will appear and explain why and how you will be lost in the desert if you don’t have an item for orientation. If you try to advance east, you will return back.

On The Other Hand, the tower southeast of Mizuri only needs the gold key.

You only need to fear Super Mages and large groups of ghosts. Mages heal and use Blizzard, doing 25+ damage to everyone in your party. Ghosts breathe cold for 10-15 damage.

  • Left (west) staircase of tower floor 1 leads to 2 chests with Miracle leaf and 1200 gold.
  • Right (east) staircase leads to the boss and a room which can be opened with cell key only (mark this place for later).

Fighting Rex gives 7500 XP, 1000 gold and a green horn.

Use Curtain and cast high tension on the fighters. You are quite strong already, so don’t stop hitting and healing until Rex dies.

Because the east desert cannot be crossed yet,

Return to the sea.

Another sage’s shrine can be reached if you follow the river from Colma town. The sage explains Cell key is nearby.

Get back to Colma and proceed south by boat. You need to go all the way around to the delta of the river and enter.

There will be another sage in a shrine to the east of the river bank. Accessible by gold key only.

The sage gives you a secret letter and his guard tells you – everything will be alright if you blow the boulder.

The letter is for the bomb, and without the letter – you can’t have it. The bomb is needed to blow a passage east to the Kata town.

While you are still here – Proceed north with the ship.

The river’s source is a cave. Embark and enter. Use the right hand rule.

There are 3 things here:

  • Miracle leaf,
  • Black gem (3/7)
  • and a button on level 2 of the cave – press it… distant rumbling is heard…

… and then go back to Colma. If you remember – there was a closed part of the tunnel in the cave, with inscription to come here after the button is pressed.

Back to Silver key cave.

Go east from Colma and descend deeply into the cave.

Remember the black squares? This is where we need to go now.

Advanced work permit in a chest. Your first one.

Another easy loot, Go to Misaki village with teleport spell, man the boat and sail west (world is round):

You can enter the hero grave through the river.

Black pearl and Ring of power (+10 attack) inside the chests.

While still nearby – visit the sage at the Northeast corner of East continent.

He will tell you Rex monsters keep important things away from humans.

His guard tells you to run from dragons.

This sage is all-dull-and-trivial, but there is Inn inside, so you may rest a bit.

There is another place west of this shrine (on an island), which can be opened by cell key. The passage leads to the Northeast continent with Howard castle inside. But you can’t go there yet. Just enter it to mark it on your map.

North, above this continent there is important sage shrine above it on one of the bigger islands.

He tells you to “Light” them in the order Green, Red, Blue. And you will know what he means when the time comes. (It refers to the horns you collect from miniboss fights).

Small island 1 square wide.

Teleport to Hamilton castle and get in the boat.

Head East-SouthEast.

Search it and you will find another Work permit.

Keep east after the small island until you reach the east continent. In the end of the water labyrinth, on the only grass square is the white pearl. Just land and search.

Try also the secret shrine in the river near Raiton castle. (the blue gem is also nearby (4/7)).

The sage in the shrine tells you Lamia, the demon king is in the southern mountainsΒ  in the eastern continent and the guard tells you to find the cell key because theΒ  loot inside the room is great. (mark this whole place for later).

Another Rex.

Teleport to Forgotten village and go NorthEast to the Rex island. (see world map).

The tower has two entrances.

One normal with a useless chest on level 2.

One hidden with a boss monster on level 3.

If you quit dungeons with “Escape” – you may never find the Rex monster.

Loot the normal part and go to the exit by foot.

Step outside – you will not be transported outside the tower immediately…

Head west by the outer wall of the tower. There is another entrance 10 squares west:

Second Entrance for Rex tower.

Second Entrance for Rex tower.

Go to floor 3.

  • High tension on fighters. Curtain and Bless barrier are a must.
  • Hit him with fighter while healing with mages.
  • 1000 hit points will be over in 3-4 turns if you are lucky to score 1-2 critical hits.

Red Rex gives red horn, 5000 xp and 800 gold.

This concludes everything loose, that could be done as side quest around the seas for now. Let’s go get that bomb for the Cell key.

Now let’s have a look at this archipelago continent at Northwest:

Archipelago in Gailardia 3

City of water.

Start from Raiton castle and go North by boat.

There is a way through the reef labyrinth, so you go almost straight there. Just take a detour by land to the topmost island. Walk on the bridges to the chest, there is a ring of protection inside.

There will be a miracle leaf and old book in the inn. Reverence to Gailardia 1 heroes.

The local sage tells you there is town called Morys in the center of the small islands, where people are holding important secret.

Shops don’t sell anything new.

There is a North exit from the town, where you need to battle a monster.

White snake has about 1000 HP and gives 8500 xp and 800 gold. The treasure behind the snake is Advanced Work Permit. The second you find. Feel free to make two chars stronger (You need the gold key to enter Castle Hamilton’s trainer).

Get back in the water and follow the south reefs. The way to Morys is long and you need to get back almost to the beginning.

Morys.

There is a Celt dagger sold in the shop for your magic using characters. Only 6500 gold (you probably have 30k loose gold already).

If you followed so far and collected the secret letter from the sage – the guard will let you take the “secret” bomb (and useless 1800 gold).

Teleport to Colma and go south and then east to the delta of the mountain river.

Advance and get in the side river. Place the bomb and the boulder is blown. (see the picture below):

Blow the boulder, to open the way to Kata town.

Blow the boulder, to open the way to Kata town.

The river will extend flooding small part of the desert, so you can land there now.

Advance east to the town of Kata. The monsters are easy for level 25-30 party.

But I will continue this walkthrough in part III, because it grew above 2000 words.

It took me some precious time to decide to play Gailardia 3. The developers have done very good job again.

Only the price of the game stopped me so far (I’ve not played Gailardia 2 yet, but Gailardia 1 was great)

So, what do you need to pass the third part of this excellent 8-bit RPG?

Again:

  • Speak with everyone.
  • Visit all sages.
  • Read all books.
  • Loot all dungeons and caves.
  • Kill Lamia Demon King again.

Let’s begin.

Castle Raiton.

You emerge in front of the king in castle Raiton.

The game starts with small introduction.

  • Apparently the current bunch of heroes are descendants of Rick from the first Gailardia game.
  • And obviously Lamia Demon king has been revived again.
  • You need to find why and take him (her?) down. Again.

After this, without much clarification the king sends you on your way.

(How the hell Rick has become a king?! He was always the first needing healing or revival.)

Talk with everyone in the castle and read all books to gather those tips and knowledge:

  1. You need to find the job-change work permits to advance your jobs.
  2. Make the Leader a really strong hero who can take a lot of beating such as fighter
  3. Have a Monk in the party. DEFINITELY!
  4. The magic swordsman is a Jack-of-all-trades.

Before you exit the castle, you need to choose jobs for your 4 heroes. (you can’t exit castle if you don’t choose)

My choice was:

  • Alan – Warrior (very strong and sturdy, least agile)
  • Chaz – Samurai (very agile, quite strong)
  • Sammy – Monk (weak, can take some beating while healing the others)
  • Lillis – Magician (very weak, but quick and with very good mass kill spells)

I totally neglected and abandoned the choice Magic swordsman, let’s hope I don’t miss something later. But it looks lame and weak from the description.

Next step is to walk around in Raiton castle and explore. There are 2 hidden things (wooden weapon and a herb) in the northwest part of the castle. And as all other cities in the game – 2 traders, Inn and Church.

Grab the 2 things, read the other 4 books with travel tips and get out to find action.

Hunt and level.

Go South from castle Raiton

Go South from castle Raiton

Kill 5-6 groups of monsters and you will be level 2. Kill 10 more groups of monsters and you will be level 3.

Get to know the vicinity of the castle and what groups of monsters are easy to train on. I suggest you train to levels 4-5 to feel some safety with the lower level monsters and then head south.

Side subquest (gem collection 1/7) can be done, by going east from the desert near the castle, but the monsters will be a bit strong for you at this moment. There is a sage 35-40 squares east from the castle. 3 chests – gem, wings and 40 gold. But leave it for better times. For now hunt around the castle Raiton.

Main story quest proceeds South – There is a bridge and a small inn with a sage who tells you to keep south or to check nearby cave slightly to the northwest.

The cave to the northeast has 3 pots and 2 chests.
Leftmost pot has 80 gold and the chests have herb and spider silk.
Level 4 party can take the monsters inside the cave easily, so you may use it for training.

Feel free to train to level 5 in the cave, it’s quite easy and you will get some spare cash to upgrade the equipment to copper.

When fed with the first cave and the sage, keep going south.

You will reach 3 bridges and will glimpse another sage inside the mountain.

After the third bridge there is a sign post saying “go west” to Misaki village and don’t bother going to the shrine 10 squares south without the Silver key:

From the first sage to Misaki village

From the first sage to Misaki village

Misaki vilage.

It is actually a bit North-West from the sign. Beware the electric shell fish. They paralyze. To remove paralysis, either:

  1. Cast “Cure” (level 6 monk spell),
  2. use Paralweed or
  3. rest in an Inn.

This is learned by a book in the Inn. You will also learn, that Colma city is south and the silver key is in a cave … somewhere.

There is a pot in Misaki having some paralweed inside, so help yourself, but it is not that expensive.

How to use paralweed? You need at least one non-paralyzed hero to use the weed on you.

When to head south towards Colma?

  • Gather some money.
  • Buy best equipment in Misaki.
  • Go back to the sage and check for the equipment suitable for monk and mage. (just to be sure)
  • Get all your chars to level 7. (monsters are strong and there are sporadic shellfish attacks)

Go south. You are ready for Colma town.

You can’t get lost if you keep going south – you will reach Colma town in about 50 squares.

If accidentaly you get lost – drop me a message and I will draw a map.

Colma

Some stuff in Colma town:

  1. In the Inn you will find hidden Traveller’s wings.
  2. The sage of Colma knows where is the silver key.
  3. Colma has an adventurer’s shop. Check regularly. (you will find nothing here on the first visit)
  4. Colma armory will have new stuff for you, worth 2500 gold (if you bought everything so far).

When tired from gathering money for stuff or at least level 8, go east to the cave:

Silver key is east of Colma town

Silver key is east of Colma town

  • Use the right-hand rule, the dungeon is not that hard.
  • Level 1 is monsters only, good for training.
  • Level 2 has some chests. South one has traveler’s wings or other useless junk.
  • Level 3 has 110 gold, the silver key and a sign wanting you to revisit once the button is pressed.

The north corridor has 2 unpassable black squares, so go back to Colma. You can’t go north for now, because you need to find the switch that opens the path north.

In Colma, the silver key opens a room with 2 chests. Useless iron sword and Shell ring (+3 defense) inside.

Back to Misaki.

Now teleport to Misaki and head southeast to the sign saying you need silver key for the south cave.

Go south from the sign, the cave is 10 squares south.

Unlock and proceed east, you will emerge from the cellar of an Inn with a guard explaining about Calandora and the need for a detour.

Rest and go outside.

Only the elephants do heavy damage, so kill them quickly. Most of the other monsters you are already familiar with.

First go North and when the ridges end, turn eas and then south. Have a look at this map for guides:

From Misaki to Calandora

From Misaki to Calandora

After a short while and a dozen of battles, you will reach a sign beside a lake, saying Calandora is a bit more to the south.

It is actually 20 squares southwest from the sign, after a bridge.

Calandora town

…has few notable things:

  1. The gem collector wants 7 gems and promises reward. (you already know where the red gem is)
  2. There is a Cellar that needs the cell key to enter. (still not able)
  3. A soldier tells you you need a passport to reach the eastern continent. (First you need to find the underground passage).
  4. Local armory has two samurai specific items, which only samurai can use. Be sure to grab them.
  5. There are also toxic daggers which give more serious damage to mages and monks.
  6. Local shipyard are rivals to Port town shipyard.
  7. The shipyard never completed a single ship because … guess what … they need Aluminum ore.
  8. Aluminum ore can be found somewhere around … *cough* … guess where? That’s right -> Hamilton castle.
  9. Some useless things in the pots and barrels. You probably have enough herbs and wings already. The only new thing is a scented charm in one of the barrels in the shipyard.

Train to level 10, monk gets “Escape!“. Useful spell for a quick get-out-of-this-creepy-dungeon and mage gets “Mini quake” which does 30+ damage to all monsters in front of you. Very good for taking down large mixed groups of magic shellfish, fire beetles or sparks which breathe fire or cast “blizzard” on you.

Buy all stuff in offered by the armory. You will need approximately 5000 gold. Your samurai will become stronger than your fighter (for a while).

This is the moment when you can go east from Raiton castle to the sage, so you take the red gem (1/7). Here is the map:

From Raiton castle to the red gem

From Raiton castle to the red gem

When level 10-11, go southeast of Calandora. A small sign says Hamilton is east, but the bridge is broken, so you need to take the hard way.

Hard way is in the labyrinth south of the sign.

The way is barred by your first miniboss fight.

Should not be a problem for a level 10 party. The snake has about 200-250 life and your “Fire” spell does 60 damage. (blue is often associated with ice, so I think the snake hates fire). 3 turns max, and I wish you don’t get hit by breath too much.

As with all minibosses, the snake always hits 2 times per round.

2200 experience and 200 gold for defeating the blue snake.

Now on to the “Maze”:

Maze with a blue snake miniboss and chest with work permit

The Maze with a blue snake gurading it

The chest in the labyrinth has a work permit.

Hamilton castle.

4 things for now:

  1. New stuff worth 5800 gold in the shop.
  2. Barking dog πŸ˜‰ that is supposed to bark at you when he learns something.
  3. There is a sentry in the northwest corner of the castle, blocking the way down.
  4. You need to speak to the king if you want to pass.

The king is laconic and gives you the ore without much asking.

When you grab the ore, feel free to return to the shipyard or train a bit to gather money for new equipment. 5800 gold are easy to gather and more experience always pays in time.

Back to Calandora.

The shipbuilders need some time to complete, so go hunt money to buy all stuff from Hamilton and train a bit.

After your return, the builder says you need blueprints and you are more reliable than the shipyard owner.

Speak with owner again.

He sends you to Port town via the underground passage (you need passport).

Talk to him AGAIN and you will get the passport.

To Port town.

This is a bit of a walk, and you better be rested and have best equipment.

Head east from Calandora until you reach the shore and then a bit north.

Enter the passage. The guard will step aside. (If not – you did not speak with the shipbuilder 2 times)

Get the maze to the end. Level 11-12 party should do well. Only blue sparks and occasional huge spider are a threat, but you can heal 100 damage already.

After you reemerge go northeast over the bridge and you will see Port town. Here’s the complete walk:

Go to Port town

Go to Port town

Port town.

  • You will learn about 12-th level monk’s “Full heal” spell and how it can’t be used in battle. Still very useful between battles and only 12 SP.
  • Armor shop has new stuff worth 10000 gold.
  • Everyone is scared from the monster.
  • Port town ALSO does not produce ships, regardless they have the tech.
  • Shipbuilding master WILL give you blueprints if you defeat the monster in the southern cave.

But this walkthrough is getting too long, and I will continue in part II.
